Sigue El Fuego (follow the fire)
First Day of Passover 2008- Between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. Fall 08 Before a Brown Bag All-Star show in NYC -

J57, the Audible Doctor, DJ E Holla, and Koncept of B.B.A.S., and yours truely, were headed across town to get to their gig that night. We were tryin’ to hail yellow van cabs to take all five of us to the spot, but they weren’t havin’ five people in their vans. Even though we would have fit, they wouldn’t budge.
After waiting ten minutes or so, we walked back to 6th avenue to try our luck there. Not a minute later, a cab stops in front of us. We could barely see the driver. As E Holla tells him we were five deep, the driver yells, “I DON’T CARE, GET THE FUCK IN AND KEEP YOUR HEADS DOWN!”
--gulp--

We stepped into the cab, they into the back, and I, of course, got in the front. The 63 Jewish-American driver instructed me to move his stuff out of the way. As I began to move a large plastic container containing some liquid, he snapped at me “WATCH WHAT YOU DO WITH THAT. THAT’S WHERE I PISS!” I knew then it was going to be an intersting trip.

He warmed up to us quickly. He told us his name was Larry. Larry was a wild guy that didn’t give a fuck about a damn thing. He had an awesomely crude sense of humor, and had us crackin’ up, randomly shouted back to the Audible Doctor to keep his head down. Larry explained how was dying of prostate cancer, lost his job with a music company when the music industry started to buckle. He complained he wasn’t receiving any aid from the government to help pay for treatment and meds. He was a Vet as well, and was one tough motherfucker. He continued telling us about his experience in the music industry and how many of those guys who had their dream job at a major label are now bartending or driving taxis.

When we reached the spot, we continued talking about music and the world. He began asking if we were all in a band. J57 pretty much was the representative of the backseat passengers, since the Audible Doc, E Holla, and Koncept were straight up dying of laughter. J57 replied and explained how all of them in the backseat were in a group called The Brown Bag All-Stars. When J asked what Larry thought of the name, he replied "There is nothing in a name...it doesnt matter.. whats 'Beatles', 'Aerosmith'... All that matters is the music and if it catches on...Greeen Day... what a fuckin name... Smashing Pumpkins... so you guys are the Brown Bag All-Stars, what the fucks the difference? Its if I dig it or not."

Larry the cabbie showed us gratitude for the tip and we thanked him for the wild ride.
